GOOD FRIDAY

If you’re a believer or even if you’re not, today is still Good Friday

The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns
and put it on his head.
John 19:2 NIV

In those days there were no protective gloves
so the soldiers who “twisted” together”
          the crown of thorns
must have had bloodied hands
     just like mine
          when I made this

The thorns punctured my skin and
     made my fingers bleed
so can you imagine how it must have felt
to have something like this
pressed down hard on top of your head
          piercing and tearing your skin
so that blood flowed
into your eyes and down your face?

I don’t even want to think about it
but today of all days I must
because Jesus accepted the pain willingly
               for me
and I am grateful

I know the reason
Jesus went through all that pain
          and died on the cross
was because He loved me
     so much.....
and whatever you believe
     He loves you too

The Crown of Thorns : Tchaikovsky

You see, at just the right time,
when we were still powerless,
Christ died for the ungodly.
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person,
though for a good person someone
might possibly dare to die.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.
Romans 5:6-8 NIV
