Peacock on

Brambles!
Had a parcel, again, to take to the PO so we took our daily walk from there.
Chris wanted to see the progress on the restoration work  on the old farm building on the path just below Catstones Moor.
Thought we’d vary the route a little and go through the fields behind the houses on the edge of the village. It’s a muddy walk, so often avoided, but everywhere is so dry at the moment we decided to give it a try. We took the lane between the houses only to find an enormous gate. The path goes to the left or to the right off the lane but there was no way in. The sign said ’Private road, access only and No Footpaths! Don’t know how they can do that.
We returned to the village and walked up the road below the development and then up Dolphin Lane to the edge of the moor. Only saw one other chap who was faster than us so we allowed him to pass.
The skies were the amazing thing today. Wide and blue with just wisps of white cloud.
The new roof is now on the building, they don’t seem to be slowing up!
Passing below a small wooded copse on the way back I spotted this Peacock butterfly who obliged me be stopping briefly on the brambles.

I’ve been trying out using a camera my son gave me some time ago. It has a fixed zoom and he got it specially for capturing wildlife shots in Kenya. It feels like a toy as it is so light but it really does seem to be good on zoom and I’m pleased with the pictures I’ve got over the last two days. Like the butterfly and a blackbird on the path.
The early frost caught our Magnolia blossoms not surprisingly. The interesting thing is it did the the same last year on exactly the same date! ( You can see it on the look back button)

The parcel contained another outfit for Eda’s doll ‘Baby’  I got a picture of her yesterday with Baby wearing both outfits I’d sent for Easter at the same time!

Saw a few Kindness stones on our walk yesterday but I liked a rainbow one I saw in the village today.

Apparently yesterday’s blip was Blackthorn. I know, or thought I knew, that that lane is usually full of May blossom. Only a couple of the bushes are flowering so maybe the May is yet to come.

Fun quiz last night, good to see people from our local am dram players.  We came joint second!
Another one tonight with church!
