Comma

How useful are the berated dandelions for our butterflies and bees at this time of year.

Had some church cards to post in the village and as it now seems to be taking longer for delivery I think some might be late, but never mind. Thought I might take take a picture of the flowers outside the PO ( Friday’s extra) whilst there were no queues, but the light was wrong.
Called to say a pavement hello to my son and waved to a church friend through the window, who lives just above him, before heading down Leech Lane.
Just beyond the cottages we bumped into Corinthian Column and R on their return from Cullingworth. Had a nice, distant chat with them too.

Followed the Beck through the valley looking out for birds, lovely birdsong but no birds spotted and then looked for a Sparrow hawk‘s nest someone in Friday’s butcher’s queue told us about. We think we may have seen it but no sign of the bird.
Lots a bluebells now down here too and butterflies amongst the scrubland off the path. As ever it seems this year, there was an Orange tip fluttering around but unlike this lovely Comma, it didn’t settle. I was thrilled last year to get my first shot of a Comma in the garden, will hold out for an Orange tip this year!

Lovely flowers everywhere on another lovely, sunny, if rather cool day, see extra collage -  my first Milkmaid, a Marigold flowering on the pavement under my son’s wall (no doubt seeded from some we gave him in the wall) and more blossom on the recently planted trees on the lower half of Wilsden Road - can you spot the bee?
As ever great to be out, safely. Take care

(Our Street has a messenger support group which, as I’m not on Facebook,  I don’t do, but Chris does. Someone put out an appeal for yeast so Chris took some down for her, she has just been back with some bread flour by return. How nice.)
