Day Thirtytwo; Walking in Arch Hill Reserve

A slower start this morning, in part because I read late last night. The seventh Shardlake novel by CJ Sansom. I am struck by the similarities between 16th Century England and the world of today. Sansom claims that the world described in these novels is accurate in historical detail. It makes the world I grew up in during the 1950s seem a fantasy land, where dreams could turn into reality. The son of a poorly paid labourer was able to go to university, study medicine and provide care to those who need it.

Late morning I went to Farro Fresh, and was able to get the bread I like for my lunch sandwiches, and a couple of other essentials. Plus a couple of bottles of nice Italian red wine.

A quick change and then out to walk along the Arch Hill Reserve Walkway. Hadn't been on it long when I saw a number of small birds fly into a tree beside the path. Caught a glimpse of the yellow/gold wing feathers, and identified them as probably greenfinch. Rather pleased with how well this photo of an adult female greenfinch has turned out.

Afternoon spent sitting/reclining in the sun outside on the deck. Reading more of Shardlake. He is a well created character, flawed yet honest and caring. Like the rest of us.

ADDITIONAL: Tonight we have watched a glorious sunset, while remaining in our home. From the apartment deck, we have a grandstand view as the sky changes before and after the sun falls below the Waitakere Range. The additional presence of the thin crescent moon and Venus complement the scene
