May sunshine

A gorgeous day today - we sat on the deck after our walk this afternoon and roasted, tho' Mrs M disagreed. I roasted anyway!

We had a couple of guys in this morning to strengthen the foundation of a small part of our deck. This involved jacking up the deck, digging a trench, putting up a couple of boards as shuttering and filling the trench with concrete. Tomorrow they'll let the deck back down on to its new base. They weren't too amused when I pointed out after they'd finished that the two boards weren't in a straight line, one of them sticking out six inches more at one end. This coincided with the boss turning up and he made them take the shuttering off and cut some of the concrete away. Fussy? Yes.

Walking down Rockfield Road we passed this old shed built in a cut-out in the hillside. It's obviously been there a long time and has almost become part of the hillside. My extra today is for the boat people - Clansman coming in past the new pontoon to her berth on the Railway Pier.
