A time for everything

Progress!

Thursday
After a dull cloudy start, the day improved, leaving us with a nice sunny afternoon. Roger got his mountain bike down from the garage wall, and checked it over, so that Philip could ride with us. I don’t think Roger had used it since returning from France, maybe even longer, so understandably the tyres were flat. Unfortunately one of them had a puncture, and he ended up having to go out to get a new inner tube. Eventually by early afternoon, all was ready, and the four of us set off. We parked near the Monkey Bar and Grill, and headed north. Philip and Laura soon led the way, while Roger stayed with me at my slower pace, Then a mile or so before I was going to turn round, after 10 miles, he sprinted off to catch up with the others - they ended up turning round after 13 miles! My blip is of the former Peters Cartridge Company at Kings Mills. I blipped it for Dereliction just over a year ago, with most windows missing or broken, but now work has finally begun on turning the complex (this is just one of three or four buildings) into apartments, a microbrewery, coffee shop etc. - you can see there is new glass in the windows. The chimney and a tower, not shown, but both adorned with the letter P at the top, will be retained, as part of the plan. Not the best of times to be building a new development in the middle of Covid I wouldn’t have thought, but work seems to be going ahead! We had an early dinner outside on the patio, so Roger and I could sign in to our church choir’s Zoom meeting at 7 pm.
