An ordinary life....

Ready...steady...go!

I've been saying I'm going to make scones for about three weeks now but each day has come and gone and they remained unmade.  In fact our first conversation of the day for the past week has been me saying "I am definitely going to make scones today!" quickly followed by David's reply of "I don't believe you."  Well believe D, because today it was done.

I took the brave decision not to include any baking powder as the last few times I've made them I felt it gave the scones a bit of a metallic aftertaste.  I pre-warned David that they may not rise as well as they usually do, but they did!  And they taste much better.

I made a double batch so as well as having one each with coffee, there was enough left over for D to take four round the corner to our friends T&V, one for Vickie to enjoy with her mid afternoon cuppa, two for us tomorrow and 4 to go in the freezer for a rainy day.  Oh dear.  We have Mary Berry Belly!

Other than that I have made David Father's Day cards from Alan and Lola, painted some abstract type flowers (ie from my head rather than from real life) to be doodled on tomorrow, and ordered some folders to keep my keep my small paintings and cards in.  They are taking over the dining table.

Salmon roasted in a plum and hoisin sauce with noodles and stir fry veg for dinner, after which I will attempt to cheer Alan up as he's not impressed with learning his next two swimming sessions have been cancelled as the pool pump isn't working.  It should have been fixed on Friday but didn't happen.  I'm assuming they will return tomorrow to finish the job.

Happy Sunday peeps :-)
