Three downland flowers and a wild strawberry

What a fine walk this morning up on the chalky North Downs in an open access area above the cereal fields Vale of Holmesdale.

The area was a mass of wild flowers including pyramidal orchids, a wild strawberries next to a pretty (unknown) yellow flower and a gorgeous (also unknown) purple flower. It was uplifting to be up there with extensive views over to the south west.

We dawdled amongst these flowers for a while making us later back for lunch than we intended, but it did’t matter.

There was only a couple of hours of the afternoon left before Susan went to see her mum which was spent in the garden. We trimmed our Virginia creeper stop it going over our neighbour’s fence. Washed 100s of dirty pots and seed trays, tidied stuff up, attended to and fed the tomatoes.

Looking forward to the pleasant Friday routine of salad and omelette for tea, washed down with a beer followed by chocolate.
