Marjorie's ramblings

By walkingMarj

You are feeling sleepy.....

An almost abstract image today, but with one spike of lady's bedstraw in focus. This plant was used in Medieval times to stuff mattresses, not because it is sweet smelling but because the smell discouraged fleas!

It is in full flower locally and is much more showy than its relative, hedge bedstraw, also in flower now.

I had an afternoon walk from Wall up onto Fallowfield Fell and back via Hadrian's Wall Trail. It was windy but very muggy. I managed to persuade two walkers not to take a shortcut on the main road  which is very dangerous for walkers. "It's not far to go the correct way" and I set off ahead of them.

This morning it was our Tynedale Photo Group and the subject was "In a Garden". There were all sorts of images. I love Saturday mornings, although it is hard to get on with anything else as people post their images.

PS Today was my cousin Eric’s golden wedding. We sent a golden rise, courtesy of David Austin. Ten years ago we sent a ruby red rose bush. We had forgotten that! Imagine our surprise when a beautiful bouquet arrived from Eric and Pauline because we can’t all be together to celebrate.
