Red Kite #65

It’s day 3 of the Alternative Olympic Games and it’s been a good day for the Red Kites beating Team Buzzard and Team Corvid to the gold medal in the “Who can eat the most meat” event. Even when Team Buzzard hid some of their stash in the long grass, the Kites were wise to this and dive bombed them continuously in an effort to get them to leave. As usual it worked and Team Kite flew off with their medals around their necks after their captain did some serious strutting and showing off (see extras) - not very good conduct at all and certainly not in keeping with the AOG spirit and motto of “Be kind and don’t eat each other!”

So, today we went to the Red Kite Feeding Station at Rhayader - something that has been on my list ever since I heard about it a few years ago.  It was an amazing spectacle and I took hundreds of photographs as you can imagine. There are a few in extras if you have time to look. Unfortunately there is a problem with my DSLR so I was only able to use my Powershot, but it did OK in the circumstances. We were in one of the main public hides, not one of the specialist photography hides, but it was just fine for my first time. I loved it.
