Quod oculus meus videt

An Insufferable Day

Yowser, it's hot and humid.  As soon as the sun broke through this morning the temperature seems to climb and climb.  We had to make a visit to my old work, where a parcel had been delivered by mistake.

Then we attempted a walk, choosing the most sheltered location we could along Chillington Avenue and the Shropshire Union Canal as it passed Brewood in a deep cutting.  The image shows how the footpath was predominantly in shade, thank goodness.

We had lunch at the Staffordshire Grill, taking advantage of the 'eat out to help out' scheme and then escaped the heat of the day amongst the chiller cabinets of the local supermarket.

It was still too much to bear even when we returned home  and we both suffered in the late afternoon heat.  There didn't seem to be a breath of wind so we resorted to mechanical ventilation to try and get some air movement.

Tonight the odd flash of lightning and rumble of thunder can be heard, but as yet no significant rainfall.  I fully expect to be woken by a full blown storm during the night.

Day Miles:  3.0 miles. Total Miles: 1,015.5 miles
