An ordinary life....

Saint or Sinner?

Backblipped 15.08.20

Well our BBQ for 4 that was meant to take place on Saturday, that turned in to an impromptu BBQ for 8 on Friday, went very well indeed! :-))

David spent the day getting the garden sorted, moving garden furniture around to make sure everyone had a comfy seat not to close to the next person, prepping the BBQ, getting his table sorted to lay the food on and making sure all the lights inside and outside of the Gin Palace were in working order.

Meanwhile I prepared the salads, the kebabs, the rolls, the fruit and the Empire Biscuits.

D collected A & D from Gleneagles and Alan and Gail arrived just minutes before he returned with them. Gail brought us a beautiful clematis for the garden. Oh heck. Poor thing having us as owners. I told her I would do my best to make sure it was still alive the next time she visits!

Poor Ele and Kenny, who were our original guests and had hoped to be here around 4.30pm, had a disastrous afternoon and didn't arrive till almost 7pm!

After Kenny returned his mum home from her hospital appointment (which over-ran by an hour!) her front door wouldn't lock so he had to head to the ironmongers to get WD40. Then the chemist hadn't delivered her medication so he went there but they didn't have the prescription made up (despite delivering it every Friday) so he'll have to return tomorrow to pick it up.

Anyway, all that out the way and we had a wonderful evening. D & A hadn't met the others before but they all got on brilliantly. I knew they would, especially the guys with D as he's a very senior figure in the golfing world (not a professional player but involved with them) so had lots of great stories to share.

David did amazingly with the food. It's not easy BBQing for 8 but everything was perfectly cooked and well timed.

Us ladies retreated to the Gin Palace when the temperature dropped, before we all retreated indoors for more alcohol and more blethers.

I put the fruit and Empire biscuits on the coffee table saying they would separate the Saints from the Sinners.

Turns out we're all sinners! :-o

Anyone like some fruit? Free to a good home ;-)
