A day in the life

Monster visit

This evening, just when I realised I didn't have a blip for today, this monster dragonfly flew in through an open window. It was ten cm big, very conveniently every square on my curtain is one cm so check for yourself. The sound of it was huge, a low frequent humming interrupted by a scratching sound like sandpaper when it hit the ceiling. After a while it found its way out through the window again and I had my blip. I'm sorry it was sitting in strong backlight but the wings are clearly visible.

We had some little rain during the night but far from enough. The day has been hot and very humid. I was helping a neighbour removing some planks from a fence but that was it for physical activity. Instead I've been finding and playing old songs and printing lyrics from my computer. One project coming up rather soon is playing and singing in homes for the elderly. There are seventeen of them, run by the council, and they want me to play 30 minutes on each of them. It has to take place outdoors so I hope the weather can keep dry the time it takes to move the elders outside, play and help them back in again. My "timetable" isn't decided on yet but I look forward to it, it' usually great fun to play for that kind of an audience and they are very grateful.
