The miracle of nature

Today being Friday, meant I went to have lunch with my best friend Birgit.

Birgit's husband and my other best friend, Vic, hatches butterflies each year.  At the moment he is hatching monarchs.  When the eggs hatch into the caterpillars, they eat plenty of milkweed plants.  Once the caterpillars reach a certain size/age, they climb to find a place to begin making their chrysalis.

As Birgit and I were eating our lunch on their porch today, we could see the two chrysalis already hanging but then we watched as a third caterpillar climbed the screen and began looking for a spot to begin making the J shape and beginning his/her chrysalis.

We watched this caterpillar for ages as it tried one spot after another, making the J shape and then moving to another spot.  At 3pm I finally had to leave without him/her making his/her final decision on the perfect spot.

This is something I am wondering if I need to begin to start doing; hatching butterfly eggs.

What a miracle of nature that a tiny egg hatches into a caterpillar. The caterpillar makes a chrysalis where it liquifies and then becomes a beautiful butterfly.  How does this even happen?!

Happy Weekend Everyone
Stay home if you can and take care of yourself and each other xx
