Eda is a big sister!

Eda was our priority today. Mummy and daddy were off to Southmead hospital for 8.00am.

It has been a glorious day, very hot for the Autumn equinox and we had a timed booking for Tyntesfield, a NT property not far across the Clifton Suspension Bridge into North Somerset.

For the first time ever we had to queue but it was only because they were checking everyone’s booking as they arrived. It wasn’t very busy when we got in. We had promised Eda a picnic so we got ourselves a takeaway coffee and found a bench, John had packed Eda’s food and her treat starter was a Yorkshire pudding from yesterday’s roast dinner. She didn’t mind it was cold and ate it all. She is a Bristolian but there is a Yorkshire girl inside!
(You might notice we are back to having a hair clip thing - there are a dozen in her hair in this picture - 6 either side and a plait or Elsa hair as she calls it!)

We hadn’t been there long before we got a text from Grace to say she was fourth on the list so it could be afternoon. For Eda, three years ago, she had been first on the list! Both babies have been breech and therefore C sections.

We went to the stable cafe for our lunch and Eda had an ice cream and a juice. She was very good all day.

We called at the play area on Horfield Common on the way back and it was hotter than ever.

Back at the house the time seemed to really stretch out as did my nerves. Finally we got a text at 16.45. Eda has a baby sister!
Phew!

Jude Clara (after my dad’s mum) was born at 15.55 pm weighing 6lb 9oz and they have added our surname as they did with Eda. All is well with both mum and baby.

I’ve seen lots of pictures and think she looks a lot like Eda did as a baby and has a propensity for hiccoughs as Eda did too. Eda has seen some too but I’m not sure she really believes she is a big sister yet, though she does know a baby is coming, but hopefully will tomorrow when they meet. Think she’ll need to be convinced that ‘baby purple‘ has a new name!

We can’t wait to meet her, I’m sure we’ll all love her as Grace and John seem totally smitten already.

I didn’t sleep much last night and today has been quite a day so I’m sure I will sleep tonight!
