Nicky and her Nikon

Fun in the sun

I timed my walk well this morning, it was sunny for the entire walk but shortly after I got home it started raining again. With muddy paws all over the stupidly pale kitchen floor, I soon remembered how having a dog and wet winter weather are not a good combination. And the days are getting shorter too, which is very depressing as I love the long days of summer. It was definitely cooler today but still lovely to be walking in the sunshine.

I phoned Boots and they assured me that my booking for the flu jab holds firm as they have kept aside stock for those with confirmed bookings although they are not taking further bookings at the moment until they can get stock. I hope that will be the case when I actually arrive for my appointment.

Someone has a birthday tomorrow and someone is a teensy bit grumpy about it, as it is not nice getting older when you are a certain age, is it? Never mind, I love birthdays and I am excited about it so he can borrow some of my excitement.

I downloaded the new NHS Covid app, I hope everyone else does too. It has some good features, whether they work or not remains to be seen. I was also randomly selected to have a Covid test as part of the Imperial College study, and my test has arrived in the post today. The letter said that if I agree to get the test I am under no obligation to take it if I don't want to, and it is presently sitting on the kitchen table and every time I look at it I feel like gagging. I suppose I will have to do the test at some point.

I saw in the news that the UK could be the first country in the world to carry out Covid challenge trials where healthy volunteers are deliberately infected with the virus to test the vaccines. I assume they are given the vaccine first! I cannot imagine they will get many volunteers unless they offer payment.
