Marjorie's ramblings

Food is running low

I was glad to see the sunshine this morning. I took the car to the other end of the village and then walked by the riverside. The path is flat and easy to negotiate.

The river was high and the level was rising all the time, due to the heavy rain yesterday.

I enjoyed seeing the fruits and seed heads on the trees and plants. Apart from a few Himalayan balsam flowers, (they will have to go), there were a very few dandelions. They were popular as a source of food as the season ends.

I've rested Arth for the remainder of the day and the swelling from yesterday is slowly subsiding.

We watched the rest of the Bake Off and enjoyed that. What complicated tasks they give the poor contestants to do! Later I listened to Philip Hensher talk about his new anthology of the Golden Age of British Short Stories. Fascinating. It looks like a heavy tome and too big for a Christmas stocking.

Margaret (across the road) baked a banana and cherry cake. She brought a section for us. Very tasty it was too.
