Riverside Park

A quick jaunt through our
city park...little vignettes
of our fall weekend.

Riverside Park is just 115 years old. In its earlier life it was the site of a sawmill and a pig farm. Paddlewheelers docked in this area when they served as our transport on the rivers and the city was young.

The Rivers Trail begins here (0 km) and fans out for 40+ kilometres along the shores of our rivers in all directions. Most of it is paved and provides easy walking. The city has plans to expand this to more than 100 km.

The park was rather quiet this morning. The surprise for me was the tennis courts seemed very busy. I hadn't expected to see anybody playing tennis in October.
