Stillness

One of those days where everything seems so still and quiet, the sky overcast and grey. I was at a bit of a loss until I saw the waft of grass in the water at the edge of the reeds. The surface so glass-like it's hard to know where the grass ends and the reflection begins.

I was careful to find a position to shoot from where the grass did not overlap any other reflections, save for a few reeds in the top right restricting me. I chose a fairly high key treatment given the uniform light background, however I did have to even out the exposure slightly.

I didn't quite know where to place the white balance and opted for a warmer, optimistic tone, but the jury's still out on that one.
