Planting the tree

This morning the tree commemorating the centenary of the Homes for Heroes in our community was planted. These houses, one of which you can see here, were built in 1920 and were some of the first council houses in Scotland. They have both local and national significance. I've blipped and written about this celebration before.

We'd hoped for an oak tree (thanks Mother Shipton for all the advice) but oak processionary moth put an end to that. Here are two chaps from the local authority land services team planting a beech which will live another 100 years at least. In a couple of weeks I'll blip the information board which will accompany it. Covid has put everything out of sync.

The weather is awful. We're in Level 4 Covid restrictions for the next three weeks. But the tree is in to mark this important milestone. See extra for the state of the ground.
