Life in Sunny Dubai

Start of DSF 2020

(20/12/20)
I seem to be constantly falling behind on blipping this year!

Friday...
Woke up to a nice relaxed day with a few things featuring... like attending the service on YouTube followed by a Church Business Meeting on Zoom. The service was good, the meeting... SB's seem to have a very different idea of conducting Biz meetings, especially on Zoom. Any rate, there wasn't a quorum so it got converted to a town hall and we proceeded. It was mainly budget-oriented.

That done, we had a quick lunch before joining our friends in Bournemouth for the third session of a Christians in Creation course that Simon has put together. Today's topic was looking after your body. It went on quite a bit longer as there was lots of discussion!

Miriam got in touch in between. She landed in Dubai on Wednesday but needed to get a negative COVID test before she could even think of venturing out, so today she is able to meet up for dinner. She had the small task of finishing her last paper, the deadline for which is later this evening. So, we set at time - 7:30 and picked her up. It was great to see her after almost a year, but so sad not to be able to give her a hug!

We took her to the Sol Sky Bar at Al Seef which she absolutely loved! Amazingly, we were the only people there when we arrived. Even better, DSF fireworks went off at 8:30! A huge bonus! We went on to have a Lebanese meal at a nearby restaurant and finally dropped Miriam back to her hotel just before midnight. She had to upload her paper and get herself ready to get to the airport to catch a flight to Bangalore. There's nothing like living on the edge. :)))
