A view from Jeanneb

Had to be done!

Getting a bit stir crazy we wanted to get out this morning, having seen Wilsden Walkers’ amazing videos on social media yesterday of the raging water in Goit Stock we headed down there.
We knew the water would be less as it has largely gone down in our garden but we felt we had to go and look.

Not too busy, though we did stop to talk to several people from the village as is one of the pleasures of these walks. It was largely dry, though light snow was flurrying around most of the time and though not without mud, of course, quite a lot seemed to have been washed away.

So here it is Goit Stock waterfall in speight.

It’s been a week of drama starting with the heaviest snow we’ve had for a while on Tuesday. On Friday we had a power cut, disconcerting to see the hole that has been left at the bottom of our road for them to finish the job is now full of water!  Yesterday was torrential rain all day but that wasn’t the only drama. Half way through the rugby we became aware of sirens and flashing lights reflected on our lounge wall. A fire engine at the bottom of our drive! There were eventually two which is quite a lot up a Cul de Sac! They were in full gear and had the hoses out - our young neighbours had had an extractor fan catch fire in their loft.
Thank fully fairly quickly dealt with with only evidence of minor damage in their drive this morning. It was an interesting distraction from England’s terrible performance, well done to Scotland.

Hope we have a bit less drama next week though the forecast is pretty dire!

Today would have been my mother’s birthday she would have been 105 - a busy month February!
