Marjorie's ramblings

I can fly!

I drove to Haltwhistle and walked beside the Haltwhistle Burn with my good friend, Maureen. We have hardly seen each other since the second lockdown. She managed to have a nasty gut haemorrhage and then a subarachnoid haemorrhage in the interim, to it is important for her to gently recover.

The Burn walk is a favourite of ours. The path is good and the slope is not steep. We met quite a lot of dog walkers and adults with children. There were lots of opportunities to pass the time of day.

A great delight was to meet  Carol and Walter, with their five cocker spaniels (all working dogs). C and W have both had Covid-19. Walter had to go into hospital when his oxygen level slipped, but was home quickly. They both described it as a horrible illness and they are just slowly recovering.

Phew!

We saw one dipper on a rock in the burn. There were reports that they were starting to mate near the brick works.

Halty Bear Junior has been talking about flying ever since he read Julia Donaldson's Zog and the Flying Doctors. He suddenly shouted, "there's Zog" and I had to admit that the branch looked a bit like a dragon. There was no stopping him then!

His followers will notice that HB is wearing another new coat. I knitted this one using Gwen's pattern as a guide. I managed to knit a hood that fits.

The arrival of bears in the walking group has undoubtedly divided opinion. Maureen is a sceptic. I think she was glad that no one came past during today's nonsense!!

Back in Haltwhistle, we met Bill who had stopped at Maureen and Brian's to fill a 5 gallon container (as you do). He was going to put a 10 foot gate in for someone. The post was enormous.

PS Halty Bear Jnr knows nothing about Joe Tree, but he chose a good day to go up a tree. Joe had a brilliant idea all those years ago and look how we have grown in so many positive ways. Thank you Joe.
