Allotment Neighbour's fence

There has been barely any work done on the neighbouring allotment to ours, until this week. Last year a young man ( early 20s) took it on, but battled with the weeds, clay soil, lack of water, no fencing to stop wildlife etc, and gave up at the end of the season. I heard on the village grapevine, that his grandparents, who also live in the village, had persuaded him to try again. I always feel more like the challenge in the Spring, and it would appear he is back. He has created this fence at the end of the plot, and put up new chicken wire at the side. A bit of work is going on in the middle too, and he has gathered together the compost and water bins that had taken off in the wind. Hopefully I will see him one Sunday and can catch up with him.

Spent the morning, resetting a computer I bought a few years ago and had given up with. But now I've got it cleared of rubbish, and new windows and anti virus on it, I plan to use it specifically for certain things. Not social media, but just writing projects, and family history.

I prepared all the dinner veg, then spent the afternoon with Jon in mums garden chipping the big pile of pruning from the hazel yesterday, while Jon burnt old wood that was rotten but dry. The wet stuff we made piles of in the bushes, so hopefully will get beetles, woodlice and centipedes, and other woodland bugs. Toads too. There may even be a hedgehog who might find a home there.

We managed to clear the chipping pile, and one pile of stuff to burn. The rest can wait.

Just left time to do the dinner, then I went in the loft to search for some photos from my youth. I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, but did find some. I set up a group on Facebook this week, for the Venture Scout unit that Jon and I were members of in the 80s. We were called 'BORRELL' and it consumed our late teenage years, until I went of f to Chester College in 1984. It felt like forever, but in reality was only 2 years for me. Others were members for a lot longer. Jon's parents were our leaders and it really was the best place to be to make friends, socialise, enjoy adventures with and generally have fun. I loved it. It most definitely shaped my future. A life of loving outdoors and challenging ourselves.

A nice roast chicken dinner with mum and Daniel. Now I need my bath. The lost hour has thrown me!!
