Seeing Clearly

After today the UK Shielding programme ends. This is really about stopping financial support to those extremely clinically vulnerable people who are working. The letter J received last week is pretty clear that people in this group have to remain extremely careful. The vaccine programme is great, but it won’t end the pandemic.

Engaging with the “real world” is something we have to do, but for J it’s not at all easy. Who’d have thought a year or so ago that going to the optician would be such a potentially scary thing to do.

But we got there, first in, and they were very kind and understanding, all the PPE and other measures in place. It was just us for most of the time - which was nearly 2.5 hours. Eye tests, and then choosing new specs as our requirements have changed a bit.

So in the end it went well, and J was (relatively) comfortable. We’ve certainly had a very challenging week so far, and she’s done well.
