Madness

In an air temp of only 7C this morning, and no doubt a much colder North Sea temperature, I watched this mad swimmer go out for  20 mins in a brisk wind at Sheringham this morning without a wetsuit - madness. I also watched a paddle boarder (see Extra) who was much more appropriately dressed. A nice walk with G this morning along the seafront, if a bit chilly in the north wind and a bit noisy with some choppy waves breaking. Nice enough to sit in the garden this afternoon for a short while.

Day 384 / Day 89 of Lockdown 3 / Day 28 of Step 1 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
UK deaths up 10 to 126,836 (revised basis), with 2,297 new cases, 3,536 patients in hospital, 517 on ventilation and 273 new admissions. 31.5m have now received their first dose of the vaccine and 5.4m have had their second dose. (All data excludes Wales and NI today as Easter Sun). A series of trials are to be undertaken on sports matches, events and nightclubs to assess the effectiveness and challenges of covid passports, improved ventilation, testing etc which  will include the FA Cup. Due to lockdown, the university boat races were run on the river at Ely to enable river footpaths to easily be closed to spectators.
