Tawny Owl #53

After a lovely few days, we checked out of our accommodation and headed for home. Since the weather was too wet on the way up, we dropped into RSPB Leighton Moss on the way back instead, not really knowing if it would be successful due to the lack of open hides, but we needn't have worried. We saw the Marsh Harriers hunting over the reed beds, heard the bitterns booming, saw some exquisite Marsh Tits(extra) and had a nice view of a Tawny Owl.  On the way back to the visitor centre we were treated to a lovely close fly by from one of the five bitterns that have been recorded there this season - a great way to end our time away.
