Vacuum Cleaners!

Hi Blipfriends!  My name is Moose and I come from Sweden. Obviously!  I’ve taken over Heidi’s blips a few times (like here!) so hopefully we’ve met before. I used to belong to Dolly and I still live with Heidi.

Anyway - yesterday Heidi was on a FaceTime with our Swedish blipfriends and they were eating these traditional Swedish cakes. Heidi was wishing she had some too and then she thought: I can MAKE them!  And so she did!

The green is coloured marzipan and she already had some ready-rolled sheets that really needed to be used. The rest was really easy - the inside is made from crumbs of leftover cake, butter, cocoa powder, icing sugar and some flavouring (rum!). Made into logs, covered in marzipan and dipped in melted chocolate. See Extra photo for how they look inside.

Yes, they really ARE called Vacuum Cleaners!  (Or Dammsugare in Swedish) They look a lot like old traditional vacuum cleaners. But mostly they’re called that because traditionally the baker would use up bits of leftover cake he swept up from the floor!!! I can assure you that no sweeping up took place during the making of these cakes. Very delicious they were too!  We had a FaceTime Fika with our Swedish friends and they were very impressed!

If you want your very own vacuum cleaner cakes you can find them at IKEA in their grocery section. Or you could try making them at home.  Here’s one recipe.
