Abstract view of the bike trail

Thursday
Another sunny day, and even hotter than yesterday. We enjoyed our breakfast and coffee on the patio. While we were drinking our coffee, we saw a few more cicadas flying about (see yesterday’s blip), but not particularly close. We have however noticed during the course of the day, we haven’t seen as many birds at the feeders as usual - I guess they’ve found the cicadas! We were expecting the heating/air con. guy to come around noon, so we got a few jobs done while we waited, then once he had gone, we took our bikes in the car to South Lebanon to cycle on the bike trail. Much of the trail is lined with trees, so I expected to see more cicadas, but w didn’t see any evidence of them yet, and aren’t hearing their mating calls yet! I felt very sluggish when we started out, but eventually found a bit more go, and managed a total of 15 miles return. My blip for Abstract Thursday: Lines is an abstract view of the bike trail, with the railings eith side providing extra lines.
This evening was handbell practice, our last one before we stop for the summer, and also the last one with Debbie as our director, as she and her husband Dan, the music and choir director are retiring. They are an amazingly talented couple and such fun to be with, and they’re going to be sorely missed. Since we are playing on Sunday, we were thankfully rehearsing in the sanctuary, rather than our usual practice room, which has a wall predominantly of glass, facing the afternoon and evening sun, and would have been suffocating this evening, especially wearing masks!
