Wood Carving

This morning I went to the Sandringham Food, Craft and Wood Festival. I arrived about 20 mins before the official opening and whizzed round in 90 mins before the rain was due, which started as I got back to the car. The wood carving gets more impressive each year.

I then watched the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games. Congratulations to Japan for a wonderful games under such difficult circumstances, I hope the financial loss from an absence of spectators isn't too great. Congrats too to the competitors from Japan who came 3rd in the medal table, and to Team GB who came 4th. We do so well now compared to our performance only 25 years ago when we only got 1 gold medal and came 36th. We also got over half the tally of the US who topped the table, despite only having a fifth of the population.

Day 510 / Day 21 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The latest travel list changes came into force today. The cost for solo travellers staying at quarantine hotels rises from £1,750 to £2,285 on Thurs (a 30% rise). There is criticism again of Ministers not quarantining / self isolating as required after returning from certain countries. It's due to an exemption re conducting essential state business, but again it comes across as one rule for us and another for them. The Health Secretary has asked the competition watchdog to look into 'excessive' pricing and 'exploitative practices' among PCR Covid test firms. Tokyo delivered a successful Olympic Games in spite of the pandemic - financials have not yet been disclosed.
