Another past concert programme & ticket memento from my photo book.

9 years ago today; a different type of ‘concert’ – A Symphony of British Music; The London 2012 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony.

The first few days of the Olympics were criticised for a number of visible empty seats in the stadium, so a new batch of tickets were put on sale for most events, including the Closing Ceremony which had already been heralded as a music celebration. So, we applied for and received our tickets only about 10 days before the date of the ceremony, not knowing what the line-up would be as it wasn’t announced in advance (although there were of course rumours).

The atmosphere in the stadium was electric and did not disappoint. Like many such events, it’s difficult to know how accurately or differently it came across as a TV broadcast, but in-person it was fabulous!

Further memories in this series will surely follow…
