She wasn't up to visitors so I did not go to Roanoke. Kendall advised to say whatever was unsaid, but I can't think of anything unsaid, so, just in case there are no future opportunities, I said thank you.

It turns out it would have been awkward if I had not been home though, because at midnight last night I went to work (ie I went downstairs) and I gave people work to do - today - on a Saturday. I didn't mean to. I thought they'd get the messages Monday morning Pretoria time and they'd be done with the work Monday morning Washington DC time. They got it today, they did the work today. At least I was here to express appreciation or I would have been a CMFIC. (No I'm not telling you what that means and I'm not ratting out the person who just taught me that phrase. It isn't as ... vivid ... as the word "peg" so if you do look it up you won't be scandalized for life.)

I also packed up my car with all the things we are bringing to the university next week when my nephew begins. His mother shipped some stuff to us because not everything she is bringing will fit in her car. I thought that maybe this is what better-off people do for their children when they go to college. Now I think she's gone a wee bit mad. He's her baby. It is a pandemic. But, uh, he's in a dorm .... and I don't think he needs all of these things, like a bath mat..... or cutlery .... or a shoe tree ... or a kitchen island serving cart??? He is very loved though.

And for the rest of the day I practiced on flowers. My favorite flower shot I've ever taken was a clover and this summer I've been trying to reproduce it. While practicing, this lady came and flew directly into my shot. Then I went off to a sunflower farm. As we went into golden hour there were many photographers with many beautiful, happy clients.
