A walk by the Ohio river

Saturday
Lower temperatures and humidity today, made for a lovely day fo a walk. We drove downtown to International Friendship Park - it tends to be our usual starting point, as there’s free parking for two hours! We didn’t actually walk in the park today, but headed the other way, through Yeatmanns Cove, Sawyer Point and Smale Riverfront Park, then across the river on the Roebling suspension bridge (thumbnail picture), stopping to admire the Roebling murals on the Covington flood wall. We continued past the statue of Roebling, the beautiful riverside mansions, then across the Licking River into Newport. We would usually return on the “Purple People bridge”, but that is currently closed, so we instead crossed on the Taylor Southgate bridge. While we were walking, we had seen signs to an art event in the Mount Adams neighbourhood, so we decided to go fo a mooch around. Mount Adams is an attractive and sought after neighbourhood just east of downtown, adjacent to Eden Park which contains the Playhouse, Art museum and the Conservatory, and with great views over the river and downtown (see extras). We enjoyed strolling around looking at the various artists wares, then stopped and enjoyed a drink in the sunshine in the patio of one of the bars, where there was some live music.
