Life's Little Moments

Dancing

The day is warm and muggy with a heavy overcast - perfect for photographing hummingbirds as they dart and swirl around the garden.  The chases are epic, the fights mostly bluster.  The chases usually start with one hummer chasing another and before you know it, there are 3 or 4 hummers involved.  And pity the poor backyard bird who gets in the way!  This is a juvenile male - you can see one tiny red feather on this throat, the beginnings of his ruby gorget.

I  released Monarch # 9 this morning for another friend who lost a sister several years ago.  And the star of the Closing ceremonies of the AOG (HERE) apparently slipped free of his chrysalis this morning because when I checked a short while ago, there was nothing left but the empty shell.  A happy ending.

We had a zoom update with the Director of the care facility where my MIL lives this morning.  They are busy scheduling the booster clinics for residents, staff (and families based on availability), and also preparing for an increase in cases in the county which would trigger more stringent visiting guidelines.  And, they are now going to require that every employee of the facility be vaccinated, something we are very, very happy about.  As it stands, 78% of their staff have both doses, so they are well ahead of the curve already.

In a short while, we are also having the regular quarterly "care meeting" with key members the staff to talk about how MIL is doing overall.  There has been an increase in falls in the last month (nothing more than some bruises, thankfully) so that will definitely be a topic of discussion today.

And as for me...still hanging on the news from Afghanistan.  And looking at something dark with nuts today...
