Marjorie's ramblings

By walkingMarj

Look who came to tea!

The weather today was very changeable. One minute the sun was shining and the next minute rain was lashing down.

I seemed to  manage to pass the morning quite quickly. I've laminated a few notices for the party and various deliveries of hand sanitiser (yes more), antiseptic wipes and bin bags all arrived.

Mum came to an important decision. Instead of being inside for some of the party (away from the noise and bustle), with the chance to talk to a few people, she has decided to be outside all the time. I had a few emails to send with this change of plan.

I have yet to tell Liz and Nick, who yesterday passed their stairlift operator competency test. I don't need to make badges for them now!!

This afternoon, Kay and Eric from the walking group, came over. We walked from home, through the village, along the Haughton road to the Castle and back via Keepershield Farm. The rain was with us at the start but soon cleared up and it was a pleasant walk.

Back at home, we all enjoyed lemon drizzle cake, made by Kay with a cuppa. Mum, Eric and Kay got on like a house of fire and we had a good chat.

Ian returned to do more clearing up. We discovered that the possible wasps' nest was a bumblebee residence. He was able to move the soil from the path and onto a border. I hope they are happy with their new residence.

I watched the first episode of Vigil tonight. Wow! Not for the claustrophobic.

PS In the image you can see part of an embroidery Mum did of the garden in her Sunderland house. Her little cat, Polly, can just be seen on the lawn. You might also spot a rain stick. Mum was very taken with these so had to have one.
