Apple harvest.

My neighbour gave me a bag of cooking apples so I have stewed them up and we have a lovely bowl of fruit to enjoy over the next day or two.
There were four old espalier apple trees in our garden when we first lived here, They used to produce a good crop, and I remember wrapping them in newspaper and putting them in the shed where they would last for several months. One by one the old trees succumbed to old age, so no more apples. It was good to have the gift from next door.
