Walk in the green

Another glorious September day!

Chris had a job to do at church this morning so I went to the Tittle Tattle Tea shop at the Congregational Church for a cuppa. It’s the first time it has reopened since Covid though it was meant to be open last week but had to close due to someone testing positive in the congregation.

We both normally go out individually on Friday afternoon but neither of our friends were available today so we went for a local walk together instead.

Quite a long time since we walked down Goit Stock, put off by crowds in the summer, but today was lovely and quiet with the sun through the trees emphasising the greens still predominant in the woods and reflected in the Beck. We soon saw two deer but they must have heard us as the scampered across the Beck and claimed the hill at the other side. A rather fuzzy shot of them watching us in the collage.

We saw lots of berries, hips and haws, especially down Leech Lane which is no surprise as the Lane is full of Blackthorn and Hawthorne blossom in the spring. Lots of sloes but not easily reached as there is a ditch below the bushes.

Returned through Hallas Bridge and the fields along the top of the woods. Plenty of Meadow Browns flitting around but not staying still enough for a blip. We ended up sat outside the Malt for a welcome drink and lunch.  What’s not to like! A great start to the weekend.

Have a good one everybody.
