Last good day?

This morning the water was streaming off the Burg after a wet night - see extra - and the skies were dull and grey. It gradually cleared, however, and we decided to take a picnic and go to find some sun as it was forecast to be the last dry day. We stopped beside St Ernan's Church on the way to Fionnphort (pronounced more like Fin-a-fert) and walked along the new cycle track until we reached a seat overlooking the rather unfortunately named Loch Pottie. It was getting better all the time and huge fluffy clouds sailed slowly over a deep blue sky. Suddenly it began to rain and as I was dressed for sunshine got rather wet! Mrs M sensibly had a jacket on! We hurried back to the car and drove on to Fionnphort where we were again bathed in sunshine. We perched on some granite rocks on the beach, the tide  being just about out, and enjoyed our lunch.

Fionnphort was surprisingly quiet - compared to the usual as it's the ferry 'port' to Iona - and the white sand beaches attracting only a few strollers and dog walkers. We sat on a seat overlooking Iona and the abbey for a couple of hours in brilliant sunshine - we must have seen the ferry come and go half a dozen times!

Back to the flat for dinner - I'm hoping to go back to see the sun go down.
