An ordinary life....

A world record...

for us!

The little orchid we were gifted in January 2020 is flowering again. I've lost count of how many times it has flowered for weeks, dropped the flowers and lain dormant for a while before flowering again.  This time there are three stems bursting in to life again.  Given we've never managed to keep an orchid alive for more than a month, this really is a world record for us!

Been a busy little day.

Alan's support worker Vickie is off with a chest infection (thankfully not covid) so David and me on Alan duty today.  We are so used to having one of Alan's support team here it now feels odd when it's just the three of us!

We had a visit from Alan's dietician early afternoon.  It's the first face to face meeting we've had since the first lockdown so just short of two years since we've seen her.  We've had zoom meetings of course but it was lovely to catch up in person.  Even better because we had good news to report - Alan's gained another 1.5kgs.   He was happy to see her and she was delighted to see him looking so well.

After she left I turned my attention to making chilli for tomorrow's dinner.  Agnes and Adrian will be here so two versions made, one being vegetarian.  The Aga has been switched on (a sure sign autumn has arrived) so the kitchen was very cosy!  Too cosy.  I had to open the back door while I cooked!  Still I am glad I made the effort as it frees up time tomorrow.

David popped to the Coop to buy some things that Tesco didn't deliver.  Thankfully he got what I needed but he was shocked by how empty the shelves were.  Brexit chickens coming home to roost.

This evening I added three more pumpkins to the pumpkin patch.  More yarn on order!  lol

And all this with the  Ryder Cup in the background.  Nerves are fraying.  Come on Europe!

P.S. Got confirmation today that our little friends from up north will be visiting again at the end of October.  We'll have a Halloween party when they're here so better make some pumpkins for them! :-)
