Abroad!

I decided not to swim this morning. Wise move as it was a long day. Picked mum and we set off south. I thought we were going to Northumberland, turned out it was Gateshead.

It was a long road and the weather improved as we went south. It is years 30+? since I've driven over Carter Bar. Not much change - wild and beautiful.

The goal was Wylam, beside the Tyne, and we arrived just at the same time as niece H and baby A. Lovely lunch and I got to hold the baby. He was a bit grumpy. Then off to Ryton for F coming back from school. He's in Reception. Played a game and then it was time to drive home. It's a long drive, nearly 3 hours and over 200 miles. The army lorry we saw breaking down on the way down was still by the roadside on the way home. The army was on the move today.

It was a good day. Good to spend time with the family on a beautiful warm and sunny day. Unfortunately we were inside but the scenery was stunning.
