Shepherd's Warning

Good Day.. But we should have heeded the warning...

Early start today. Gary, Brian and I are off to a Jaguar do. The International Jaguar Spares day at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. It was a fascinating morning, driving through sublime Warwickshire countryside, past Kenilworth Castle and out to the massive showground at Stoneleigh. Hundreds of stalls where sellers were offering every conceivable spare part for any and  all models of Jaguars, especially the classic cars. One could buy a complete car, if one didn't mind it being in bits. Truly a case of the sum of the parts being greater than the whole. It was eye opening and enlightening, and the best part of the day.

Bad Day...

On returning home I invited Brian in for a coffee. While we were chatting I answered a call on the home phone. The display said it was our daughter Ell calling. But it was not her voice. A stranger's voice. She said, 'Don't worry, Ell hasn't been hurt, but she has had an accident....'

Long story short, she was driving through Wolverhampton to visit us. Passing a line of cars and a van, a man ran out from the sidewalk. She hit him. Hard. He hit the windscreen and went to ground. She was traumatised, utterly shattered. Police, Ambulance, witness statements, the man was rushed to A&E all the usual paraphernalia.

The police drove her car home, brought her home... Pale, shuddering with shock. Weeping and uncontcollable.

Police were kindly and understanding. The guy was paralletic, having just left a pub. He was injured and broken but not life threateningly so, thank The Lord.

Ell was not at fault, could not have avoided the collision, and indeed, could have caused far more damage if she hadn't been driving so carefully.

No further action. But the degree of damage to the car is significant, we await updates from the insurance, it may be a right off.

We are unable to get updates on the poor man. Patient confidentiality. Drunk and senseless maybe. But he did not set out to get knocked down. We are worried for him

More on this later, when the dust has settled. Our daughter is shaken but safe and that is our blessing for now.

The main picture is the sky from our back garden at 08.00 this morning. Unedited.

The extra is a shot of the car. Car and occupant shattered.
