Pileated woodpecker

Wednesday
I was thrilled to see the pileated woodpecker at our feeders this morning. We were in the family room having a FaceTime chat with Roger’s Dad, and from my chair, I could see the feeders. I quickly got up and headed to the window, where I snapped a couple of shots through the window. I then tried my luck gingerly opening the door, and he still stayed on the feeder, so I was able to get a few more, but the angle wasn’t so good, as there was another feeder in the way. So this is one I took through the window, and then was able to edit to get rid of some of the haze. The pileated woodpecker had appeared several times 18 months ago when Laura was with us for a prolonged time during the early stages of Covid, but we hadn’t seen him in a long time. It’s the cylinder he likes, but they come in different varieties, and I’m not totally sure which one this is, since Roger put it up for me.
It was a sunny relatively mild day, and in the afternoon, we went for a rather muddy, but very enjoyable walk at Rowe Woods where, besides various landscape shots, I captured a squirrel busy snacking on a nut - see extra.
