Day Five - Cherry and Apple Trees - Before

Today’s picture, taken as the sun came up, shows the large cherry and apple trees before Croak Tree Surgeons started work; there will be an “after” picture tomorrow. My husband had an appointment at Royal Papworth Hospital during the day and it was dark when we arrived home.

They have to come back to complete the levelling of the front hedge, which they did not think they would get done. They will also have to come back once the pond has dried up as they cannot work in the water on the trees in that area. One of our smaller apple trees, which is in the orchard and like another tree, has been there for over fifty-years is looking rather poorly. They have pruned it hard and it will either survive or not; it will die if nothing was done, so this was the best option.

Overall we are extremely happy with the work they have done and with how they have cleared the site. As required they closed the gates and put the chain across our drive once they had finished.

Noon Today – it was four degrees Celsius.
