Snow Geese ...

... day.

We went out looking for snow geese today as R had read about some sightings in New Jersey.  When he looked at the location in NJ he saw that it really wasn't that far from us ... pretty much just over the border in Phillipsburg, NJ.  It took us under a half an hour to find the location.  And we weren't disappointed!

The numbers weren't like the thousands upon thousands that we typically see at Middle Creek but it was still impressive.  Especially considering it's simply in the middle of a farmer's field.  We had a beautiful day for seeing them ... with gorgeous blue skies ... even if it was bitterly cold.  I stayed in the car for most of my shots in this collage ... plus the Extra photo.

It was so lovely seeing all these beautiful geese but I was also able to add two new bird species to my "life list".  They are included in my collage.  Top left photo is of a Horned Lark ... both male and female!  And the bottom right is of an adult Savannah Sparrow ... that's according to the Merlin app!  Both very new species for us!  If you click on the "horned lark" tag below you'll see better pictures than mine here!

We had a great day!
