An ordinary life....

Finding Mr Tumnus...

When we both went to bed at 3am (after nodding off watching 24 Hours in A&E!) there was no snow.  When the alarm went off at 7.30am, we woke to this winter wonderland!

A flurry of communications with various people and it became clear that Alan would be in our capable hands today as neither Ashleigh or Kirsten could get here. Our cleaning Lady L was also stuck, although she had her booster jab on Wednesday and has been feeling rotten so she probably wouldn't have made it in anyway.

The plumbers made it in to service the boilers but they only had to travel from the High Street.  The first thing they did when they arrived was contact the rest of their customers for today and try to reschedule their visits.

Our Tesco delivery was due between 9 and 10am and I was worried it wouldn't arrive but right on cue, just after 9.15am the trusty van pulled up outside (sensibly didn't come into the drive, probably because of the two plumbers vans already there, one of which had to be pushed back out when the plumbers left, due to the slight incline as the entrance/exit :-)  All items present and correct.

I used the excuse of the four plumbers floating around downstairs (they brought two apprentices) to stay in bed and got up once they left.  A nice lie in after a late crawl to bed!

Between spending time with Alan, D and I finally managed to finish the clear out of the large cupboard in the back hallway.  We started it before David hurt his back and it had to be abandoned, with boxes and a whole host of debris cluttering up the living room, but it's all tidy again, with a pile of stuff heading to the tip, a pile of stuff heading for the loft, and the cupboard looking very neat and functional.

Old family favourite Delia's chicken with lime and coconut for dinner (although I use three chicken breasts, 400ml tin of coconut milk, and two dessert spoons of fish sauce) Yummmmmm!

Was supposed to crack on crocheting the pram blanket this evening but my hands have been a bit achey today so gave them a rest.

In other news, two new watercolour brushes arrived today (Atelier Golden Taklon Quills sizes 60 & 80)  I had a very quick play with them, creating some very loose abstract florals and oh my!  I am going to love them!

Saving them to use with the set of Mijella Mission Gold watercolour tubes I have ordered (delivery not due till 10th March.  Boo!) and half imperial size sheets of Arches cold pressed 100% cotton paper I treated myself to with birthday money.  I am going to be having big, messy, colourful, loose watercolour fun!  :-))

P.S .Never did find Mr Tumnus, but the witch is here ;-))
