Frites…opening soon

There are innumerable eateries on Leith Walk, so I’m sure that there is scope for one that specialises only in Belgian frites. A major food group, for sure, although I’m not sure that you can make an entire meal out of them, even with mayonnaise. Anyway, we shall see.

A trip up to the McDonald Road Library to finalise library membership begun online was the order of the day today. I’ve joined Edinburgh City Libraries for the first time, and Mr A has revived or renewed a former membership. Or possibly taken out a new one. I wasn’t sure. When I was checking online for the McDonald Road Library opening times I noticed that the Covid testing centre also in the Library was closing today. Things are gradually disappearing. I guess Leith Library will eventually revert to its former function. The whole idea of joining the library is to be able to check out ebooks, so I don’t constantly buy stuff on my kindle.

After the Library, we walked to the bottom of the Walk in order to pick up a few bits of shopping, and that gave me the chance to case out some potential new #leithwalkshops. And get a blip. In addition to the imminent arrival of frites, I also noted Yellow Souls much further up, and then Seb’s Urban Jungle - brunch place and house plants, on the site of what was briefly Al Kareem Supermarket and then was an empty site for a while. I must say I was tempted to go in and have a look at the houseplants, but then Mr A always complains that we have enough of them. In my view, one cannot have too many plants. The brunch side of the business looked quite lively too. Perhaps we will check it out soon. Funny that I had missed it. I guess it’s because I come out of Stead’s Place and never look up the hill, or across the road, but just head down the hill towards the Foot of the Walk. As Seb’s Urban Jungle is currently crowded in by tram works, making it impossible to photograph, I will have to wait to include it amongst my #leithwalkshops, which have been horribly neglected since December 2021….

The rest of the day was a big fat zero. Well, I lifted a few weights in a desultory manner. But mainly, I’ve been sitting in my chair, and I’ve had a couple of short naps. I feel very drowsy today, and rather worn out. I managed to make dinner, which was the first time in a while. But apart from that, I’ve done the square root of nothing, and I think that was much needed.

I’m about to read my book for a while and then have an early night.
