Social Sunday

Beautiful Sunday - sun all day but I didn't spend as much time in the garden as I normally would.  I'm still researching door handles (!) though I now know that the originals were doorknobs so I think I may go for a rose fitting, not rectangular.

First off this morning was drinking coffee and then Prosecco with K.  Y has succumbed to 'the virus'.  I was there longer than normal and then later ended up next door seeing what F and E have done to the house and garden as I delivered their blind.  Very much a work in progress.

I did have some time in my garden though spent some of it talking to A over the back.  She's had her trees chopped, including the dead silver birch.  I refilled the bird feeders, put up some more lights, and took a few more leaves out of the pond.

After some very late lunch it was time to head into town.  It was a beautiful evening. I was headed for the Odeon for the live streaming from Leith Theatre of 'Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde' from Leith.  There were crowds of people outside when I arrived.  I think they were talking Russian although the usher said it was the premiere of a Hungarian film and the crowds inside and out were because the stars were there, being photographed by groups of individual fans.  The posters on the door were in Russian and some folk outside had the Ukrainian flag painted on their cheeks.

In a bizarre coincidence the couple sitting next to me, met in the foyer, were M from choir and her husband.  So more socialising.  The performance was very good and it was fun spotting the Edinburgh locations. It's being rescreened next weekend and will be shown on Sky Arts later in the year.

Still relatively warm when I stood for the bus going home.  The town seemed really quiet and the venue for the Van Gogh event in Festival Square is nearly finished.

It felt like we were coming out of hibernation today but the news form elsewhere is not good. I hope that somehow sense breaks out.  War never wins.
