The Nine-Foot Basin

Chasewater reservoir is full after last week's rain.  I took an early morning walk around the basin that takes the overflow from the reservoir, before it flows out into the canal feeder.  It wasn't your typical sunrise, something more subtle with the cloud to the north east being illuminated by the rising sun.

After breakfast I joined L to take her ride, Meg, over the road and onto the Chase for a short hack.  She seems fine for this change in her normal pattern of riding and I'm sure if she could speak, she would say she enjoyed the change of scenery.  It was a better morning than forecast and stayed dry all day, despite the forecast yesterday.

Apparently this small pool of water, on the other side of the dam and linked by the main reservoir by large ducts, is called the Nine-Foot (apparently because of the depth gauge that used to be positioned in it).
