A Day In The Life

Downtown

To forget all our troubles and forget all our cares we visited downtown this morning. Thanks, Petula :) • MrsP needed to stop at the Post Office which is located at the entrance of our city’s Main Street. I always laugh at the “city” designation as it seems more like a town to me with a population of 5,700, but the city designation has more to do with the type of governing body we have. Cities have an elected council to make decisions vs. the town meeting formats of towns • While MrsP was at the PO I walked to the opposite side of the street to capture our downtown mural. Due to the proximity to the Kennebec River the city’s history is unsurprisingly steeped in the fishing, lumber and ice industries. Even in current times the river remains the pulse of this community • Of course we visited the river and discovered the ice had magically disappeared over the weekend!! Woohoo, another sign that spring is coming :) C’mon, Cormorants!!
