Diary of an Edinburgher

Haircut at last

It was warm this morning, a nice change, as it’s been COLD first thing these last few days.

Today was the day Archie was to have his hair cut. (Before/After in Extras) And it took well over an hour. That’s quite an accusing look in extras. I really shouldn’t leave it quite so long, as it’s a bit of a drama for both of us. Worse for Arch, though…

JR went off to get a Click and Collect from the supermarket, as she doesn’t want to go near other people these days. We haven’t used this since the height of the pandemic, but JR declared that it was so convenient, she might return to using it again.

In the afternoon we took Archie to the vet for his little regular procedure that he doesn’t want to be mentioned, so I won’t. We all set off to walk there. We passed this fabulous tree. It’s a good 40 minutes for normal folk, with a dog who likes sniffing every pole, but with me as well, that time could easily be doubled. Anyway, it got quite hot, and as we came to the Big Long Hill, I changed my mind and took the bus home. I was home in time to sit out the back in the sun until it went behind a cloud and then got cold enough to drive me inside.

Archie has been sitting in the kitchen on his own, ‘woofing’ while we’re in the lounge. He does this when
a) his water bowl is empty
b) he can smell chicken cooking or this time
c) there was broccoli on the bench, about to be popped in the pan. He LOVES broccoli.

This time NEXT WEEK Archie will be with his friend Derek and we will be in a panic, hoping we have everything organised, ready for a very early flight next day.

Six and a half sleeps!
